Culinary Adventures at Canyon Hills High School: Pesto Pasta and Caesar Salad

Canyon Hills High School’s second cooking class session was a delightful success, featuring the star dish of the day: Pesto Pasta and Caesar Salad. This time, the IMIN students donned bright red aprons, stepping into the role of real chefs as they prepared the recipe from scratch alongside two talented chefs.

Each student had a vital mission to ensure the meal came together perfectly. Some took on the task of crafting the rich and flavorful pesto sauce, while others enthusiastically chopped vegetables for the salad, taking turns and collaborating like seasoned pros. The kitchen buzzed with energy and teamwork!

While the pasta simmered, the chefs kept the fun going with The Chef Trivia Game. Students tested their culinary knowledge, learning fun facts that added to the excitement of the day.

The experience was not just about cooking; it was a wonderful opportunity for creativity, collaboration, and, of course, delicious food. As they gathered around to enjoy their beautifully plated meal, it was clear that this session had created lasting memories for everyone involved.

Bon appétit to our aspiring chefs! We can’t wait for the next culinary adventure!

A Spooktacular Day at Canyon Hills: IMIN Students Dive into Makeup Magic!

Today was a thrilling day for our IMIN students at Canyon Hills, as they had the unique opportunity to participate in a hands-on makeup workshop led by the talented team from La Jolla Playhouse. The focus of the workshop? Mastering the art of creating a hauntingly realistic vampire appearance!

As theater club students gathered after school the excitement filled the air. Under the expert guidance of La Jolla Playhouse professionals, they explored the anatomical features of the human skull, learning how to translate this knowledge into effective makeup techniques. The combination of artistry and science not only captivated their imaginations but also provided valuable insights into the craft of theatrical makeup.

The students were amazed at how understanding the anatomy could enhance their skills in creating character looks. With every stroke of makeup, they discovered the power of transformation that theater can bring, especially when it comes to embodying iconic characters like vampires.

We can’t wait to see how these newfound skills will shine in their future performances. A huge thank you to La Jolla Playhouse for making this memorable day possible!

A Flavorful First: Cooking Class at Canyon Hills High School

This week at Canyon Hills High School, the aroma of deliciousness filled the kitchen as students gathered for their very first cooking class. Excitement buzzed in the air as Chef Miguel, a culinary expert with a passion for teaching, introduced the students to the art of making Lumpias.

As Chef Miguel laid out the ingredients, the students leaned in, eager to learn. He explained each step of the recipe with enthusiasm, guiding them through the process. Under his watchful eye, they chopped vegetables, seasoned fillings, and prepared the wrappers. The atmosphere was electric, with laughter and chatter blending with the sizzling sounds from the stove.

The most thrilling part came when it was time to roll their own lumpias. The students approached the task with a mix of determination and careful precision, trying to perfect their technique. "No pressure!" Chef Miguel encouraged, as they focused intently, ensuring not a single wrapper broke. Once the lumpias were golden and crispy, it was time to taste their hard work. The classroom transformed into a lively gathering as students shared their creations, comparing flavors and techniques while enjoying their culinary masterpieces together.

The joy on their faces as they bit into their lumpias was priceless, marking not just a delicious meal but a memorable bonding experience. The first cooking class at Canyon Hills High School was a resounding success, sparking a newfound love for cooking in every student. Who knew that learning to cook could taste so good?
